- - Santa Maria. The Santa Maria Bay is a great spot for snorkeling because its natural horseshoe shape protects it from the more turbulent waters of the sea. Because the area is so calm, people snorkeling enjoy much better visibility to the wildlife below. There are a vast number of tropical fish, sea turtles, and even octopus located here.
